CrystalDiskInfo is a free, open-source disk health monitoring utility developed by hiyohiyo (Crystal Dew World). It provides comprehensive information about the health status of your storage devices by reading and analyzing S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) data from HDDs, SSDs, and NVMe drives.
The software displays critical information including disk temperature, power-on hours, power-on count, reallocated sectors, pending sectors, and many other parameters that indicate the overall health of your drives. CrystalDiskInfo uses a simple color-coded system: Blue for "Good", Yellow for "Caution", and Red for "Bad" status, making it easy to quickly assess drive health at a glance.
One of the key features is the ability to set temperature and health alerts. When a drive exceeds specified thresholds or shows signs of imminent failure, CrystalDiskInfo can notify you via system tray alerts, allowing you to take preemptive action and back up important data before a drive fails completely.
CrystalDiskInfo supports a wide range of storage devices including internal HDDs, external USB drives, SSDs with SATA, NVMe, and USB interfaces, as well as RAID configurations through Intel RST, AMD RAIDXpert, and other controllers. The software is lightweight, portable, and completely free for both personal and commercial use.
